We are California Soapmakers, but we identify with a much wider & rounder territory: the tiny-huge, living-breathing deep blue miracle, Source of all our ingredients, home to our ancestors who began this work generations ago, home to all our relations and descendants, and all the people who make and use our products today. This 2020 All-One! Report, like all of our work at Dr. Bronner’s, is dedicated to our beloved Mother.

Business standing up for people & planet!

Dr. Bronner’s calls on America to adopt the Green New Deal, which promotes regenerative organic agriculture that sequesters carbon in the soil. We invite the business community to join us addressing climate change and economic inequality. Let’s build a clean, just, sustainable future for all!

Climate positive
within this decade!

Dr. Bronner’s commits to climate positivity by 2025—meaning our business will draw down more carbon from the atmosphere than we emit. How? By sending zero waste to landfill, choosing renewable power, efficient transportation, responsible packaging, and sourcing raw materials from smallholder farmers who use regenerative organic practices that draw down atmospheric carbon. Love & honor our home and each other! Climate justice for all!

Holistic farming
to help cool the earth!

Carbon farming is a critical tool for mitigating climate change. By transitioning suppliers to practice Dynamic Agroforestry (DAF) & regenerative organic farming, Dr. Bronner’s is on our way to being climate positive!

We are proud to announce that Dr. Bronner’s Coconut Oil
is the world’s first Regenerative Organic Certified product—
the first of many to come. Look for the logo!

A new high-bar standard:
Regenerative Organic Certified!

ROC = products that promote healthy soil: farming that builds rich, living soil through reduced tillage, cover crops & rotation, animal welfare: good lives for our fellow creatures–no confined feeding operations, freedom from discomfort-fear-distress-hunger-pain, & social fairness: living wages, good & fair working conditions. Give & give! Volunteer on
Earth Week & any week
Our entire staff took part in our annual Volunteer Day at our Vista factory & sites around San Diego County. With great energy & high vibrations, we installed solar panels for a low-income family’s home, prepared meal kits for people experiencing homelessness, cleaned up a local beach, and weeded an organic teaching farm. We also participated in Earth Week activities — planting trees at our factory & learning how to compost. Giving feels good!

Fairly paid farmers! Healthy soil! Healthy community!

Farmers dedicated to regenerative organic cannabis have been perfecting their craft for decades & now face unfair competition from carbon-intensive corporate operations. Dr. Bronner’s helped found Sun + Earth Certification to ensure a market for people growing the right way!

Refuse, reduce, reuse &
recycle for a cleaner world!

We all have a role in solving the planet’s plastic problem. Since 2003, Dr. Bronner’s has sourced post-consumer recycled plastic for most of our bottles. This helps keep used plastic from incineration, landfill, or leakage into our oceans, builds the market for recycling, and stops new plastic from being made. But we have more work to do! So, we’re working to find alternative materials, design, and refill options. Onward!

Confronting our waste demon!

Dr. Bronner’s Germany sculpted a Plastic Monster
to bring the natural products industry face-to-face
with the problems lurking in its own supply chains.
We can do better!

Great schooling for every kid!

Together with Serendipalm, our ethical & sustainable palm oil sister company, we’re building the Regenerative Learning Center in Asuom, Ghana. It will include a Montessori preschool for 150 children, a large training & meeting center for farmers & community groups, and a guesthouse for the increasing number of visitors who want to see Serendipalm firsthand.

More marching! More voices! More unity!

We joined the Amazon Rising March to support indigenous
peoples fighting to save their forests, and shut down our website
in solidarity with the Global Climate Strike. Speak up!

To heal, make whole, become one, it’s all the same. For people suffering from PTSD, depression, addiction, & end-of-life anxiety, it means holding all that we are, light and shadow, blessings and pain, and bearing it with patience, acceptance and love until it is transformed and we become whole again. In this 2020 All-One! Report, Dr. Bronner’s is proud to announce our support of psychedelic-assisted therapies with all the promise they hold to heal the soul.

Real healing through
psychedelic therapy!

We feel the pain & frustration of many Americans suffering from depression & anxiety for whom current treatments don’t work—pharma drugs bringing too little relief & too many side effects. Psilocybin-assisted therapy was recently granted ‘breakthrough designation’ by the FDA for treating major depressive disorder. Psilocybin shifts the mind from fear and survival patterns, facilitating new ways to heal & grow. That’s why we’re devoting $500,000 to Oregon’s Psilocybin Service Initiative: psi-2020.org

Decriminalize Nature!

Psychedelic plant medicines have been used for thousands of years by diverse cultures around the world. Dr. Bronner’s supports decriminalization efforts in U.S. cities, following the examples of Denver & Oakland, that ensure people are not jailed for growing or possessing these powerful healers.

Breakthrough PTSD
treatment for veterans!

MDMA-assisted therapy, with its ability to foster feelings of security and well-being, creates an ideal state for processing traumatic events. That’s why we’re supporting MAPS.org in obtaining FDA approval for this therapy, and giving $100,000 a year to VETS and Heroic Hearts to sponsor vets healing trauma through psychedelic-assisted therapy.

might be a place where we
can meet nature halfway.”

Better access to healthcare!

Better health for women! In rural India, where our regenerative organic mint oil supplier Pavitramenthe is located, periods can create major challenges for women — many still face stigma and lack access to hygiene products. Dr. Bronner’s & Pavitramenthe are distributing 3,000 washable pads and providing training on menstrual health.

People using business
as a force for good!

Certified B Corps are for-profit businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social & environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. With our 2019 B Impact Assessment score, Dr. Bronner’s is proud to be recognized as a “Best for the World” business in the Environment, Community, Changemaker and Overall categories, placing us in the top 10% of all Certified B Corps in those groups.

Love where you work!

In 2019, Dr. Bronner’s was voted San Diego’s top workplace for mid-sized companies for many reasons: Free daily vegan lunches, free onsite yoga classes, discounted onsite massage therapy, fully paid health insurance, executive pay capped at 5x the lowest paid fully vested worker, $5,000 in annual childcare subsidies, opportunities for training and growth for everyone.

But there’s something about working at Dr. Bronner’s that’s more than a list of perks, benefits, and policies. We build our social and environmental mission into everything we do, so everyone knows that their work matters, and that we’re all in service to a greater good. Dr. Bronner’s is a place where soap, soul, and joy come together, every day. All-One!
