Submit your appeal to stop fracking in the Kimberley
We’re sharing a message below from our friends at Seed Mob.
Public appeals are currently open, and decision makers will be paying close attention to the level of concern raised during this period.
If you are able to, we encourage you to read below and consider taking action before February 10th.
Please also check out their press release - Lock the Gate, Environs Kimberley and CCWA.
As you may have seen, the WA Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has recommended approval of Texan fracking company Black Mountain Energy’s Valhalla proposal in the Kimberley
This decision is not final.
Right now we have a short window of time to act. Appeals close on February 10th.
Submit your appeal to stop fracking in the Kimberley
Appeals go directly to the Appeals convenor and if enough of us speak up, the appeals convenor could advise Environment Minister Swinborn against the EPA’s recommendation, making it much harder for him to approve the project.
As it stands this proposal would involve drilling and fracking up to 20 wells in the heart of the Kimberley, threatening Country, culture, our communities and the climate.
The climate crisis isn't a distant problem, we know that the climate crisis is here. Just this year floods have devastated communities across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria and right now bushfires are raging across Victoria, and right across the country communities are sweltering in extreme heat.
This is the climate crisis.
We must do everything in our power to ensure that we listen to the science and keep warming below 1.5 degrees, and that means keeping fossil fuels in the ground - where they belong.
Submitting an appeal is one of the most powerful things you can do right now. It tells decision makers that people across the country are watching, and that we expect them to protect the Kimberley
Each appeal costs $10 to lodge.
If you're able, chip in $10 to cover the cost of your appeal, and if you can go a step further, consider donating $20 to help cover the cost for someone else to take action too.
We’ve made your submission as simple as possible, with a clear template that you can edit or send as is.
We know public pressure works, we've done it before and we can do it again - every appeal matters.
Together we can protect country, communities and our climate.
With hope,
Georgia for the Seed team.

The Commonwealth List of Critically Endangered and Extinct Flora and Fauna is also an essential read. You could photograph and document the valuable flora and fauna in the area then submit with your application opposing the CSG operation. Ensure you get this verified by a specialist in the field.

Thanks again Adrianne. This is handy info for our readers.
You could verify the environmental studies submitted by the CSG company in their initial licence application. Quite often, these are under par and the licences can be cancelled by the state government.
